False Teachers
Contending for the Faith
Is it proper to name those who distort the truth? I had struggled with that question for some time, especially when certain preachers were condemning the practice. But my opinion has changed and I now have no problem naming anyone who deceives God's people, either willfully, or unintentionally. Below, you'll see links to articles, quotes and other information from various religious leaders and institutions. It is important to remember that accusations must be made against an elder by at least two or three witnesses. For that reason, when the person does not incriminate himself by his own words, I will present the views of other people who make the same accusations.
Do not entertain an accusation against an elder unless it is brought by two or three witnesses. Those who sin are to be rebuked publicly, so that the others may take warning. 1 Timothy 5:19-20
Are you a victim of one of these wolves' in sheep's clothing? Have you lost your faith because of bad teaching? Please consider the fact that the Christian faith is perfect but some who claim to speak for God distort His Words to make them fit their own selfish agendas. In many cases, you will have to throw out what you have learned under these false teachers and begin to learn the truth as it is revealed in God's Word, the Holy Bible. Please don't throw out the baby with the bath water. It's OK to lose faith in the preachers who have caused so much misery. But they're not worth you losing faith in God. You can begin anew by keeping it simple and studying on your own. Check out my article, What is Christianity? and follow the links to other short articles and to help you along. Take your time and your relationship with God can be as good, if not better than it has ever been in just a short time.
My eyes will be on the faithful in the land, that they may dwell with me; he whose walk is blameless will minister to me.No one who practices deceit will dwell in my house; no one who speaks falsely will stand in my presence.Psalm 101:6-7
Disclaimer
Please be aware that not everything these groups or individuals teach is necessarily wrong. For example, Mormons have strong Christian values when it comes to charitable giving and living holy lives. And the organization, Promise Keepers certainly has done a lot of good toward teaching men to be leaders in their families and helping them become more responsible as husbands and fathers. But as I stated in another section of this website, I'm an equal opportunity offender and I present the teachings of any person or organization that are contrary to what the Bible teaches.
Of course no one is perfect. Some people say that no one has everything right so why pick on anyone? Because those that are listed here have blatantly gone against sound Biblical principles and they ought to know better. It's not just a matter of misinterpretation in most cases.
Are you listed here as a false teacher?Would you like your name eliminated from this list? What can you do that will cause me to make favorable comments on your particular page in this web site?
First, you must be willing to admit publicly that you are guilty of teaching false doctrine, stating specifically what doctrine you know is false, how long you have been teaching it, and why you taught it..
The public confession must include your local congregation (if you have one) and a letter which I will publish on your page in this web site).
Second, you must agree to refrain from teaching false doctrine in the future.
You should encourage your congregation to study the Bible independently and to challenge any questionable teachings.
You should have an open door policy for every member of your church who seeks clarification or for those who might wish to challenge your teachings.
You should listen carefully to any and all challenges before responding to them.
I am willing to accept a letter of confession for publication on this web site. The letter will remain on your page in this web site indefinitely. A disclaimer will also appear on your page in this web site explaining that you formerly taught false doctrine, but you have confessed and repented and have promised to teach God's Word correctly now and in the future. I will also state that I will not endorse you, your teaching, or your church since I will have no means to verify any changes that you may promise.
Your willingness to confess and repent will be commended, however you will not be allowed to hide from your past so that others who listen to your messages, will be more careful to consider every word you teach. You have a grave responsibility to teach God's people appropriately, and since you have already discredited the Church, you should not be allowed the freedom to do so again.
